At VNA Pharmacies, we want to help you get the medicine you need at a better price. Because we take part in a special federal program called 340B, we can offer discounts that make medicines more affordable. Save money on your prescriptions at our three pharmacies or at participating Walgreens pharmacies.

What Is the 340B Program?

The 340B program is a federal program that allows us to provide medications at lower costs to patients who need it most. Large retail and big-box stores can offer only a few drugs at very low prices. With the 340B program, we can prescribe these medications and many more at the same affordable prices or even lower.

Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial Insurance and Uninsured/Self-Pay patients are accepted. Call us to learn how to participate.

Where to Get Your Prescriptions

Eligible patients can obtain their discount at VNA pharmacies or at participating Walgreens pharmacies. VNA Pharmacies offer the best prices, but Walgreens pharmacies might be more convenient for some patients.

To obtain a discount on your medication, you need a prescription written by a VNA provider (doctor or nurse practitioner). If you’ve obtained a prescription at the hospital, you won’t get the discount. Once you are discharged from the hospital, pay a visit to your VNA provider. They can assist you in getting your prescription at the discounted rate.

VNA Discount Pharmacy Locations

VNA has pharmacies in Aurora, Elgin, and Joliet. You can use the drive-thru to pick up your medicine without leaving your car. If you want to use the drive-thru services, call the pharmacy where you want to pick up your prescription to let them know. Your medicine will be ready at the pharmacy you choose. Take a look at the corresponding location page to find the address and hours of the pharmacy closest to you:

Common Question About our Discount Pharmacy Services

We want to make sure you have all the information you need to take advantage of our discounts and services. Below are some common questions about our pharmacy and how we can help you save on your medications.

How Long Can the Pharmacy Hold a Prescription?

VNA Pharmacies can hold your prescription for up to 10 days. This gives you time to pick up your medication at your convenience, so you don’t have to worry about rushing in.

How to Transfer a Prescription From One Pharmacy to Another?

If you need to transfer your prescription from one pharmacy to another, you will need to contact the pharmacy where you want your prescription filled. The staff at this pharmacy will contact your current pharmacy and transfer the prescription.

VNA pharmacy staff can help you transfer your prescription to any VNA pharmacy of your choice. This applies to transfers coming from any kind of pharmacy, whether it’s a VNA pharmacy, Walgreens pharmacy or even pharmacies outside of the VNA network.

If your prescription is with a VNA pharmacy and you want to transfer it to a non-VNA pharmacy, you will need to contact their staff and they will handle the transfer.

Can the Pharmacy Transfer a Prescription For a Controlled Substance?

Some controlled substance prescriptions can be transferred, but there are important rules to know. Schedule III, IV, and V medications can only be transferred one time, no matter how many refills you have left. After one transfer, you’ll need a new prescription from your doctor to switch pharmacies again. This includes medications like Tylenol 3 (acetaminophen / codeine), Ambien and testosterone.

On the other hand, Schedule II medications cannot be transferred at all. These medications also cannot be refilled, so your doctor will need to provide a new prescription each time you need more. Examples of Schedule II medications include Adderall, Concerta, and Percocet.

If you have questions about transferring your prescription to a VNA pharmacy or from a VNA pharmacy to a different location, we can help. Call us to speak to our staff about your needs.

How to Choose the Best Pharmacy for Your Needs

Pricing and convenience are two of the most important factors when choosing a pharmacy. As a customer, you want a pharmacy that has affordable prices, is open at convenient hours and is located near you. For patients in the western Chicago suburbs, VNA in-clinic pharmacies and our partnering Walgreens pharmacies are a good option. An additional benefit of VNA pharmacies is having your doctor and your pharmacist at the same location.
